Egyptian faience, ligth green glaze | Deposited with the City of Lausanne by the Jacques-Edouard Berger Foundation, the exquisite collections of ancient art fom Egypt and Asia that J.-E Berger - art historian, lecturer, organiser of and guide on cultural trips - compiled in his lifetime are presented at the mudac by means of regulary changing themed exhibitions. At present, therefore, visitors will find: |
- The Animal World in Ancient Egypt

One of the most striking elements in Egyptian art is the omnipresence of animals. Whether in a natural or hybrid form, in statuary, low reliefs, amulettes or decorations, the inhabitants of the Nile Valley very quickly integrated the abundant fauna that surrounded them into their social and religious life. This is testified by a selection of nearly one hundred objects ranging from the pre-dynastic period (3100 - 2686 BC) to the Greco-Roman period (333 BC - AD 395).
