Sanchi (Madhya Pradesh). The west gateway (torana) of the Great Stupa, north pillar (north face): the most exquisite floral design. The grape wine suggest foreign influence but the usage of the lotus blooms and leaves with the animals set heraldically in pairs is typical indian.
